About CSIO

Established in 1959, the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. Located in the beautiful city of Chandigarh, CSIO has been at the forefront of research, design and development of sophisticated scientific instruments for over six decades.

Our mission is to provide innovative instrument solutions to meet the needs of industry, defence, healthcare, agriculture and environmental monitoring. First Indigenous Spectrophotometer (1962)

Designed and manufactured India's first UV‑Visible spectrophotometer, reducing dependence on imported analytical instruments.

Laser Raman Spectrometer (1978)

Developed a sophisticated laser Raman spectrometer for molecular analysis, used extensively in national laboratories.

Medical Electronics Division (1985)

Established dedicated division for biomedical instruments, leading to innovations in patient monitoring and diagnostic devices.

ISO 9001 Certification (1998)

Achieved quality management certification for design, development and production of scientific instruments.

Portable Water Quality Analyzer (2005)

Developed a field‑deployable multi‑parameter water quality analyzer adopted by pollution control boards across India.
